Little progress has been made at the Comcast-West negotiation table.  The big issues are job security, wages, overtime, and region wide incentive-bonus programs.

We are frustrated with the company’s refusal to meet on a regular basis to negotiate a new contract. The only days Comcast agreed to meet on are June 25 and June 29, 2012.  Your bargaining team questions management’s motives.

We are demanding management addresses why they are contracting out work instead of hiring new employees in the Comcast West locations.  The company is hiring new employees in other locations in the Chicagoland market but doesn’t want to add new union employees in the West.

We believe the company has violated the recognition language.  We filed a grievance over the broad use of contractors.  Management made it clear that contracting out more work is a goal the company is pursuing.

On May 30^th Local 21 members took their frustration to the Comcast shareholders meeting in Philadelphia.  Members from the Cortland and West area shops made it clear to CEO Brian Roberts how his policy is hurting working families.

Comcast’s greed will not silence our voices.  We will continue to stand tall and we will prevail.
