IBEW 21 volunteers are needed at Mercy Home’s Picnic on Saturday July 19, 2014. Mercy Home is a Chicago children’s charity dedicated to providing kids in crisis with the support and guidance they need to realize their own potential. At Mercy Home young people have many opportunities to build confidence and acquire the skills they need to build successful futures.

What:   Mercy Home's Friends First & AfterCare Summer Picnic

When:  Saturday, July 19, 2014

Where: Mercy Home for Boys & Girls—East Parking Lot - 1140 W. Jackson Blvd., Chicago, IL 60607

Event Time: Noon—3pm

Volunteer Shifts: 10am—12:30pm and/or 12:30pm—3:30pm

Volunteer Details and Roles: This is an opportunity for you to engage with former residents of Mercy Home, their Friends First mentors, mentees, and Agency co-workers. Attendees will enjoy a family reunion style day with plenty of food, games and laughter.

They need volunteers to help make this a successful, summer event. Assistance is needed for the following roles: 

Set-up: Arrive early to help prep before guests arrive.      

Griller:  Can you grill? Serve as a backup cook for the catering team.

Games: Manage play area and engage in games with children.

Food Service: Serve food to guests. Replenish food and drinks.

Face Painting: Artsy? Create custom designs on the faces of their guests.

Cotton Candy: Satisfy someone’s sweet tooth! Distribute cotton candy.

Dismantle: Help clean up after the event, and put things away. 

Note: Feel free to volunteer for both shifts. All volunteers will be given lunch.
