Posted On: Jun 23, 2011

June 23, 2011- Job Cuts Continue at AT&T.  Our Union was notified of more job losses.  Twenty-eight AT&T employees are being declared surplus.  Their off payroll date will be September 14, 2011.  SIPP packages were given to the affected groups.  Meetings between Labor Relations and employees affected by the company’s jobs cuts to review the Surplus Transfer Request (STR) as well as VSIPP selections have begun.

In Marketing, the Surplus affects members working in Global Markets.  In Chicago, eight Project Coordinator positions are being eliminated due to technological change.  Also being eliminated are three Customer Advocates and two Technical Associates. In the Springfield, one Customer Advocate and one Technical Associate will be let go.

Job losses were also announced for network employees.  In the NDC in Hoffman Estates, ten Maintenance Administrators have been declared surplus.

In Alsip Global Fleet Operations, technological changes have resulted in the elimination of two Technical Associates and one Technical Specialist.

The first round of the AT&T- I&M preference was completed yesterday. Management furnished the names of the affected employees to Union representatives late yesterday. A copy of the list was distributed to all Business Representatives and Chief Stewards to review the info today. Management on Friday, June 24th will notify all affected employees.
