Apr 06, 2011 - We Are One Chicago Rally- Call to Action!
Posted On: Apr 26, 2011

April 6, 2011

Workers continue to join as one and stand in solidarity to save the middle class by protecting the rights of all workers across the United States.  Thousands of workers will rally at Daley Center in Chicago at 1pm on Saturday April 9, 2011. Speakers will be at the mass rally to denounce the latest atrocious acts taken against our brothers and sisters across the country.

Jorge Ramirez, president of the Chicago Federation of Labor said,We won’t let those attacks on collective bargaining and retirement security happen here. In Chicago, working people are standing up to rebuild the middle class and defend the American dream.”

IBEW Local Union 21 members, families and friends whose rights are continuously under attack will make their voices heard.  We will gather at noon and march as one from 225 W. Randolph to the Daley Center at 50 W. Washington.

As reported on the AFL-CIO blog, workers in hundreds of big cities and small towns are saying we are one with workers everywhere whose rights are under attack.  Read more about their actions here.

While workers rights remain under attack, Wilma Liebman chairwoman of the National Labor Relations Board knows our Nations labors laws do matter and that our actions as one are helping to bring collective bargaining back into the public eye.  For more on Liebman’s comments and to read a great article on how the National Labor Relation Act came to be and evolved over the years, click here.

This will be the most important action you have ever taken as a union member and worker!

Therefore, we urge all members, families and friends to join with us, adding our collective voices at the rally on Saturday.  All members need to contact their Business Representatives for more details. Let them know if you will be attending and how many people you can bring with you.

More information on the We Are One Action in Chicago can be found on the Chicago Federation of Labor’s website by clicking here.

Read about how other workers are joining together on AFL-CIO’s website here.

Solidarity!
